DSS Summons Malami Over Kebbi Convoy Attack

Odili Seige: Malami reiterates non-involvement, denies knowing suspect

The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited and interrogated former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, following the attack on his convoy in Kebbi State earlier this month.

Malami’s convoy was reportedly targeted by suspected political thugs in Birnin Kebbi on September 1, 2025, shortly after he returned from a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief Imam of Dr Bello Haliru Jumu’ah Mosque.

In a post on his Facebook page on Monday, Malami confirmed that he had complied with the DSS invitation to assist in their investigation.

“I can confirm that I have been invited by the Department of State Services, DSS, to support investigation over the attack on my person and convoy in Kebbi State on the 1st of September, 2025,” he wrote.

Malami alleged that the petition prompting the DSS action was influenced by opposition political actors in the state. Despite this, he praised the agency for the professionalism and transparency of the inquiry.

“I was treated with dignity and respect, and I remain committed to cooperating fully with the Department to ensure that their investigation is concluded successfully,” he added.

The DSS has yet to release details of the outcome of its investigation into the attack.
