DSS Sacks 115 Officers in Sweeping Internal Reforms

The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 personnel as part of a far-reaching internal reform aimed at sanitising the agency and enforcing strict professional standards.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the secret service said the dismissals, which occurred over a period of time, were the outcome of a comprehensive review of conduct within its ranks. The move, according to the DSS, underscores its renewed commitment to discipline, integrity, and accountability in the discharge of its duties.

The agency, however, cautioned Nigerians to be vigilant and avoid any dealings with some of the dismissed officers who have continued to parade themselves as active personnel.

“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel,” the statement read.

The DSS further urged the public to verify the identities of anyone claiming to be an operative before engaging them for official purposes, adding that the names of those dismissed have been published on its official website.

The Service reiterated its resolve to maintain operational transparency and uphold the highest ethical standards while purging its ranks of elements whose actions could tarnish its image.
