Drama on Ibom Air Flight as Passenger Caught Stealing Cash from Foreign Traveller’s Luggage

Ibom Airlines rejects Monday shutdown, to continue operations

There was drama aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Abuja after a Nigerian passenger was caught allegedly stealing a large sum of money from the luggage of a foreign traveller.

According to reports, the suspect, who boarded the flight from Uyo, was nabbed by the cabin crew after suspicions were raised mid-flight.

A viral video making the rounds on social media on Thursday shows the moment the accused was escorted off the aircraft by a flight attendant, as other passengers mocked him over the incident.

Eyewitnesses claimed the foreign passenger had placed his hand luggage in the overhead compartment, but upon landing, noticed it had been tampered with and his cash was missing.

An alarm was raised, prompting other passengers to join in the search. A vigilant lady reportedly revealed she saw the suspect — seated across her row — move the bag earlier during the flight.

A quick search was conducted, and the missing cash was allegedly found in the man’s possession. He was immediately handed over to security personnel for further investigation.

As of press time, Ibom Air is yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
