ABUJA — Former lawmaker Dino Melaye has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be swept out of power in the 2027 general elections, insisting that Nigerians are now “wiser and more prepared” to defend their votes.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday, Melaye accused the APC of misgovernance and maladministration, arguing that while the ruling party “came, saw and conquered” in the past, its dominance is nearing an end.
“The 2027 election will not go that way. Nigerians are wiser. Like the Boy Scouts, we are more prepared, and I want to tell you that we will defend our votes this time,” Melaye said.
The former Kogi West senator revealed he had left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is now a proud member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he described as the party destined to unseat President Bola Tinubu.
“I’m a proud member of the ADC. And that is the party that will unseat Tinubu and, by the grace of God, send APC out of the villa come May 29,” he declared.
Melaye emphasized that the opposition is better organized this time, warning that the next presidential election will not be “a tea party as usual.”
“The APC came, saw and conquered at a time. But I want to tell you that 2027 will be a different story,” he added.
