The acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, has said that the devil is using some members of the party to create crisis and division within its ranks.
Damagum made the remark in Abuja when he received PDP state chairmen led by the chairman of their forum, Tony Aziegbemi of Edo State, and secretary, Edward Masha of Kaduna State, who visited him to reaffirm their loyalty and support.
Addressing the delegation, Damagum cautioned those allegedly working against the unity of the party to retrace their steps and seek repentance, warning that “karma” will eventually catch up with those who betray the party that helped them rise to prominence.
In his words: “I want to use this opportunity to call on our colleagues that the devil is using, to see wisdom in casting the devil in them. Treachery, especially against an institution that has made you what you are today, will not heal. You may be lucky now, but there is a law of karma. What goes around comes around.”
The PDP acting chairman urged members to act with conscience and remember that their actions will be judged not only politically but morally.
“Sometimes, when I resort to the ways of God, people think it is weakness,” he added. “We exist because God exists. We owe everything that we do to Him. He is watching us and will judge us by our behavior. A word is enough for the wise.”
Damagum’s remarks come amid ongoing internal disagreements within the party, as leaders continue to call for unity and discipline ahead of the next general election cycle.
