Activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the immediate past Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (retd.), over alleged mismanagement of N283.3 billion.
In the petition addressed to the ICPC Chairman, Adeyanju accused Ibas of failing to account for the massive allocation he received during his six-month tenure as Sole Administrator, following the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
According to Adeyanju, aside from what he described as a “cosmetic renovation” of the State House of Assembly complex, there was no tangible project executed, no financial records made public, and no transparency in the administration of funds.
“This is a clear case that demands urgent investigation and accountability as the people of Rivers State deserve to know how their money was spent,” Adeyanju wrote.
Ibas was appointed to oversee the state during the political crisis that led to Governor Fubara’s temporary suspension but has now come under scrutiny for his stewardship of public funds.
