Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has dismissed recent reports suggesting a confrontation between his administration and the Council of Afobajes over the selection of the new Awujale, describing them as entirely false and misleading.
In a statement signed by Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, on Thursday, the Governor clarified that he recently held a respectful consultative meeting with the Council of Afobajes, similar to prior engagements with the Olori Ebis.
“These discussions have consistently helped harmonize traditional stakeholders and even led to one of the kingmakers withdrawing a filed litigation,” the statement noted.
The Governor’s office also refuted claims circulating online, including statements such as “No Kuye, No Awujale,” describing them as fabricated. “No Afobaje will attest to such an occurrence, as it never happened,” the statement emphasized.
Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his commitment to due process, the autonomy of traditional institutions, and ensuring a fair and transparent selection of the new Awujale. “Our administration continues to prioritize dialogue, harmony, and the preservation of cultural values,” the statement added.
The statement concluded by urging the public, traditional stakeholders, and the media to disregard unfounded rumors and rely solely on verified information from official sources.
