The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has directed its members to immediately register with the Dangote Refinery ahead of the company’s official commencement of nationwide fuel distribution on Monday, September 15, 2025.
The directive was contained in a statement signed at the weekend by IPMAN’s National President, Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi, and National Secretary, Hon. James Terlumun Tor.
The move follows Dangote Refinery’s announcement on Thursday that it will begin supplying petroleum products across the country, with retail prices expected to be reduced.
According to IPMAN, members who have already completed their registration with the refinery should proceed with payments and prepare for product loading, which will start on Monday.
“The National Executive Committee of IPMAN…is pleased to inform our members who have renewed their membership that payment, loading, and supply of petroleum products at the Dangote Refinery have commenced,” the statement read in part.
“On Monday, 15th September 2025, the company will commence product loading and supply directly to buyers’ locations within the country. Interested members who are yet to register are urged to go ahead with their registrations,” IPMAN added.
However, the development has sparked criticism from key industry stakeholders, including the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), and the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN).
The groups dismissed the distribution scheme as a “Greek gift” to Nigerians, warning that it could have long-term implications for the downstream sector.
