She was killed in a rage after rejecting the teenage boy’s advances. Captain Frederick van Wyk, a Western Cape police spokesperson, confirmed a murder investigation is underway.
“Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation. The suspect fled the scene and is yet to be arrested. The motive for this shooting incident is unknown.
“The case was transferred to Anti Gang Unit detectives for further investigation.
“Anti Gang Unit detectives investigating the murder and gang operational teams are in the area since last night busy with tracing operations. The investigations continue,” Van Wyk said.
Fadeema Marshall, Naeema’s mother, is grieving the loss of her baby girl, as Naeema is the youngest of five children. It was said that on the day of the incident, she went to see her father’s cousin, who had sent her on an errand. The boy approached her while she was on an errand, and they got into a fight over why she didn’t want to date him.
Finally, he replied to her, “You will see,” while she informed him she wasn’t terrified of him. Only for him to come upstairs to her father’s cousin’s flat and shoot her in the head on the left side. The two had previously known each other.
