Lekan Sunday has been detained by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly raping a prophetess in a local church. Despite the fact that he is believed to have committed the crime last Thursday, they were able to capture the 40-year-old man on Monday.
The culprit is alleged to have entered the Orioke Aanu Oluwa Gbohunmi church in the Kemta suburb of Ilogbo Adu, Abeokuta, armed with weapons. He reportedly held the prophetess imprisoned, brandished a knife in her face, and threatened to kill her if she didn’t quit being difficult.
The prophetess apparently started pleading with the offender when her pleas for help from others around her went unanswered. The victim was claimed to have gone to a local police station and reported the incident after reportedly raping the prophetess and eventually forcing her to submit.
After receiving the complaint, the police began a quest to find the suspect who had run away. Tuesday’s incident was confirmed by the state police public relations officer, according to PUNCH.
The culprit was recognized by the prophetess as a local mason and labourer, according to Odutola. “The incident took place on Thursday. Yesterday (Monday), we detained the suspect. The preliminary investigation is still ongoing,” according to Odutola.
