An ex-cybercrime offender and 54 other people have been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s Ibadan Zonal Command for alleged internet fraud and related criminal activities.
One among those hauled in by the authorities was recently freed prisoner Adeniran Ayobami Tijesunimi.
The suspects were captured in Oyo town, Oyo State, as a result of a careful EFCC intelligence operation. The anti-graft organization, renowned for its effective efforts against internet-based crimes, retrieved various damning documents from the detained individuals, as well as 79 mobile phones and four laptops.
Seven exotic cars that were purportedly purchased with the money earned from the suspects’ criminal activities were also taken by the operatives in addition to these things.
Tijesunimi was found guilty of engaging in cybercrime on February 15, 2022, and was sentenced to seven months in prison without the possibility of a fine by Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court, sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Uwujaren claims that the EFCC is still looking into the allegations, but he also issued a warning that all the accused will be charged after the investigation was over.
