At least eight people were injured on Sunday after Iran launched repeated missile attacks on Israel, with Israeli authorities saying at least two of the missiles carried cluster munitions.
Israeli police released CCTV footage from the Tel Aviv area showing a missile impact on a road, stating that the explosion was caused by cluster munitions that led to damage across several locations.
According to the rescue service Magen David Adom (MDA), bomblets and shrapnel from the missile wounded four people across different parts of the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.
A man in his 60s was hospitalized with moderate head injuries caused by shattered glass, while three others were treated for shock waves resulting from the blast.
In another missile barrage shortly before noon, two men aged 62 and 44 sustained minor injuries after pieces of asphalt struck them following the explosion, MDA reported.
Earlier, during a salvo targeting the Tel Aviv region at about 3:00 a.m. (0100 GMT), an elderly man and woman in their 80s suffered light injuries. The man was wounded by glass shards, while the woman experienced smoke inhalation.
Meanwhile, another missile launched toward Israel’s southernmost city, Eilat, was intercepted before reaching its target. Local authorities said the projectile was also believed to be a cluster missile.
By midday Sunday, Israel had recorded seven missile salvos launched from Iran, with several intercepted by air defense systems.
Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar accused Iran of deliberately targeting civilian areas during a visit to the Arab-Israeli town of Zarzir in northern Israel, which had been struck two days earlier by missile shrapnel that injured nearly 60 residents.
“While we are targeting military objectives, the Iranian regime is targeting civilians,” Saar said.
“All the casualties we have faced during these two weeks of confrontation are civilians from Iranian missiles. This is, of course, a war crime,” he added.
Police Superintendent Shlomi Schlezinger echoed the remarks while speaking near one of the impact sites in central Tel Aviv. He alleged that Iranian forces have consistently targeted densely populated areas.
According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz, citing security officials, Iran had fired about 250 ballistic missiles at Israel as of March 13.
Since the conflict began, 12 people in Israel have been killed by missile strikes or falling debris, according to figures compiled by Agence France-Presse based on data from Israeli authorities and emergency responders.
