Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has reignited his public feud with Mohamed Salah, insisting the Egyptian should remember where his career stood before joining the Reds.
Carragher’s latest remarks came in response to Salah’s explosive interview, where the forward accused Liverpool of “throwing him under the bus” amid the club’s poor run of form. Salah also revealed that his relationship with manager Arne Slot has deteriorated.
Following the comments, Liverpool left Salah out of their squad for Tuesday’s Champions League fixture.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, Carragher said Salah’s frustrations have become too self-focused.
“One thing I want to remind Mohamed Salah — and maybe his agent — is that before he came to Liverpool, he was known as the guy who failed at Chelsea. That’s just a fact,” Carragher said.
“He’s the greatest player Egypt has ever produced, and Egypt are AFCON’s most successful nation… but Salah has still not won the AFCON. That’s not to put him down, but to remind him that it’s never about one individual.
“When he arrived at Liverpool, he wasn’t a star. No matter how good you are, you need your teammates, your manager, and the supporters. He needs to remember that. When he’s talking now, it’s all about ‘me, me, me.’”
Carragher’s comments add another layer to the growing tension surrounding Salah’s future at Anfield as the club navigates on- and off-pitch turbulence.
