Popular Nigeria artiste, Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, has been arrested and taken to the Lagos State Special Offences Court at Ikeja.
Naira Marley left Lagos on Saturday, July 13 for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, for a concert that was held at the Jabi Lake Mall. The concert drew public outrage.
It was learnt that the police had filed charges against him for violating the COVID-19 protocols and order banning interstate travel that was put in place to curb the spread of the disease.
The government thereafter shut the mall down and also stopped the operation of the airline whose plane he chartered.
The Inspector-General of Police ordered his arrest and he (Naira Marley) presented himself at the command headquarters.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana said the case is in court and Naira Marley will be arraigned for violating the interstate travel order as that is the aspect that concerns Lagos State.
