Helicopter crash in Lagos claims two lives

A helicopter crash that occurred on Friday, 28 August, 2020, at a residential site on Salvation Road, Ikeja area of Lagos State has claimed the lives of two yet-to-be-identified passengers.

Nelsdaily.com received reports that the sad incident happened at around 12 noon as the helicopter was conveying the pilot and two other passengers to an undisclosed location in the state.

Asides from the two dead victims of the crash, the third occupant of the helicopter was said to have been critically injured and admitted into the Intensive Care Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital as confirmed by the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.

According to Oke-Osanyintolu, “The agency received distress calls concerning a privately operated helicopter that crashed into 16A Salvation Road, Opebi, Ikeja and immediately activated the emergency response plan”.

He stated that the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in a mortuary while affirming that the agency is in “on top of challenges, especially crowd control”.

As at the time of filing this report, operations are still ongoing at the site of the crash….
