#EndSARS: Hoodlums storm Benin protest, free prisoners

Some group of unidentified men (suspected hoodlums) on Monday, October 19, 2020, while the #EndSARS protests were going on in Benin City, the Edo State capital, stormed White House prison along Sapele Road in Benin and released prisoners.

The hoodlums can be seen in videos (see the video below) invading the Benin Medium security prison on Sapele Road, releasing some inmates.

The hoodlums also reportedly burnt down Ugbekun and Idogbo Police Stations in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state, other police stations there in Benin city and are currently trying to gain entrance at Oko Prison, to release prisoners.

The Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Media, Crusoe Osagie, told correspondents that the hoodlums exchanged fire with security operatives at the Maximum prison in Benin City.

Barely forty-five minutes ago, the Edo State government had imposed a 24-hour curfew across the state, following incidents of vandalism and attacks on private individuals and institutions by hoodlums in the guise of #ENDSARS protesters.
