The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC), the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), has elected Kano State ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje as the party’s National Chairman.
The NEC also elected the Senate’s former spokesman, Ajibola Basiru, from Osun State, as National Secretary during a meeting attended by President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kassim Shetimma.
The two party officials were elected on Wednesday at the party’s 12th National Executive Committee meeting, which was held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.
While Ganduje succeeded Abdullahi Adamu, who resigned because of several allegations levelled against him, Bashiru will succeed Osun state’s former deputy governor, Iyiola Omisore.
Meanwhile, the APC chairman of the Arewa community in Lagos state, Engr Sa’adu Yusuf Gulma, congratulated the former governor on his selection as the party’s National Chairman.
Engineer Sa’adu stated According to a news release:
“Alhaji Ganduje has fought gallantly for the party to resolve the southern president which produced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emerge, it is long overdue to reward hard work despite circumstances with the ministerial appointment but we are extremely happy that Governor Ganduje will steer the party to a greater height.”
As a result, the appointed chairman and secretary will occupy the post until the National Convention later this year.
