The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that Borno State recorded the highest number of online voter pre-registrations nationwide as of Week Nine.
According to newly released data on Tuesday, out of 8,003,196 Nigerians who completed the pre-registration process, Borno accounted for 826,130 entries—the highest across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Following Borno were Osun State with 646,580 pre-registrations, Lagos with 604,819, Kebbi at 581,135, and Kaduna with 510,490. Ogun closely trailed Kaduna with 510,062 entries, while Kano registered 421,941. Other states with notable numbers included Kogi (361,233), Zamfara (304,065), and Yobe (292,714).
At the lower end of the spectrum, Enugu recorded 25,541 pre-registrations, Ondo 17,618, Ebonyi 13,979, Edo 11,570, and Abia 11,221, the lowest nationwide.
In total, 1,710,450 voters have completed their Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) nationwide as of Week Eight, combining both online pre-registration (956,566) and physical registration (753,884).
INEC also confirmed that registration activities in Anambra State remain suspended until after the governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025, in line with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022.
While South-Western states such as Osun, Lagos, and Ogun had led in CVR participation since the exercise began on August 18, 2025, recent data shows a significant surge in northern states, particularly Borno and Kebbi. Analysts attribute this uptick to intensified awareness campaigns by community-based organizations, religious leaders, and local officials.
