MINNA — Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has said the dissolution of his cabinet is part of efforts to conduct a mid-term performance review and realign his administration for greater efficiency in service delivery.
Speaking to journalists after the valedictory State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Minna, Bago explained that while some appointees had surpassed expectations, others fell short of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set by his administration.
“It was also discovered that some have strength in other areas, and my administration needs to be rejigged to bring about the desired growth and development in line with the mission and vision of the New Niger Agenda,” he said.
The governor disclosed that some of the outgoing officials would be reappointed, while others would be redeployed into new roles where their capacities would be better harnessed. He commended the cabinet members for their contributions, noting that they had collectively advanced his administration’s goals.
Bago had earlier announced the dissolution of his cabinet, retaining only the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, and the Deputy Chief of Staff. It was also gathered that a number of special advisers and other principal officers were left in place.
