Atiku Labels APC Government ‘Worst in 40 Years,’ Backs ADC as Rescue Platform

Abuja — Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government as the worst administration he has witnessed in nearly four decades of political involvement.

Atiku made the remarks on Tuesday in Abuja during the public presentation of The Loyalist, a book written by Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Speaking at the event, the former vice president praised the ADC, describing it as a broad coalition of political forces committed to national renewal and democratic rebirth.

“We have a unique opportunity in the ADC,” Atiku said. “It represents a convergence of diverse political tendencies across the country, united by the desire to reunite Nigeria and renew our democratic journey.”

He sharply criticized the current administration, saying its impact on the country surpassed even that of past military regimes.

“If there is anything positive in our recent political experience, it is this coming together to rescue Nigeria from what I consider the worst administration I have witnessed in nearly 40 years,” he stated. “Not even the military governments before 1999 damaged our national life and consciousness in the way this administration has done.”

Atiku also noted that many of those present at the event were key actors in the formation of the APC but had since grown disillusioned with its governance record.

“Many of us here helped form the APC in the belief that it would rescue the country. Unfortunately, that promise has not been fulfilled,” he said.

He called on Nigerians to once again take responsibility for the nation’s future by building a credible political alternative capable of delivering good governance.

“Just as we once came together to form a political alternative, we must do so again to ensure the emergence of a new political platform that can salvage this country for the benefit of its people,” Atiku added.
