Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed sympathy with former heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, following reports of a fatal road accident involving the boxer in Makun, Ogun State.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the vehicle conveying Joshua collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the loss of two lives.
Reacting via a post on X (formerly Twitter), Atiku said he was deeply saddened by the incident and stood in solidarity with Joshua during what he described as a difficult moment.
“I am deeply saddened to hear of the road accident involving @anthonyjoshua today in Makun, Ogun State. I stand in full solidarity with him during this difficult moment and pray for his swift and complete recovery,” Atiku wrote.
He described Joshua as a symbol of strength and resilience, expressing confidence in the boxer’s ability to overcome the situation with grace.
Atiku also extended his condolences to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the accident.
“My heartfelt condolences go to the families and loved ones of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in the accident. May their souls rest in peace, and may their families find comfort and strength in this time of sorrow,” he added.
