Army Chief Vows Decisive Crackdown on Terrorism During Yobe Visit

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s resolve to decisively defeat all security threats confronting the nation, while calling for sustained support from citizens and state governments.

General Shaibu gave the assurance during an operational visit to Yobe State, where he was received by Governor Mai Mala Buni.

In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele, the visit was aimed at boosting troop morale and assessing the prevailing security situation in the region.

The Army Chief acknowledged recent operational setbacks, including attacks on military formations, but maintained that the force remains resolute and undeterred in discharging its constitutional responsibilities.

He disclosed that adjustments in operational strategies are already underway to effectively counter evolving threats and consolidate gains across various theatres of operation.

Reiterating the Army’s commitment to national security, General Shaibu assured that troops would continue to confront terrorism with renewed vigour, noting that the military is constantly refining its approaches to match the changing dynamics of insecurity nationwide.

He also urged state governments to strengthen their support for personnel on frontline duties, stressing that collaboration remains critical to achieving lasting peace.

The COAS commended the government and people of Yobe State for their continued cooperation, describing it as vital to operational success.

During his visit to the Headquarters, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI in Damaturu, General Shaibu interacted with troops and charged them to remain aggressive and relentless in the fight against insurgents, in honour of fallen comrades and in pursuit of national stability.
