The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has expressed strong confidence that the ruling party will be unable to manipulate the forthcoming elections, claiming he is fully aware of their “usual tactics.”
Aregbesola made the remarks on Tuesday in Osogbo during the public unveiling of the ADC in Osun State. The date, he noted, marked exactly 15 years since his administration was sworn into office—an anniversary he described as both symbolic and significant.
He argued that the ADC offers Nigerians a credible alternative capable of confronting the nation’s persistent challenges, including insecurity, maladministration, hunger, poverty, and the general absence of good governance.
“Today marks the 15th year we have been in Osun State, and our government was also sworn in at this very location. It was on a Friday, but today is the day of victory. God has shattered the present government, even the one at the centre,” he said.
Aregbesola insisted the ruling party’s alleged rigging strategies would fail in the upcoming polls. He urged party loyalists to mobilize aggressively at the grassroots level.
“They cannot rig the election; we know their tactics. Go and start taking good care of elderly women, clothe them well, let them sit in groups at the polling units on election day, and leave the rest to us,” he said.
According to him, the current administration has failed “in all standards”—from the economy to security and governance. He predicted that by August next year, the ADC would reclaim power in Osun and move on to secure victory at the federal level.
“There is nowhere in Osun where the people do not resonate with what we represent. Our achievements and legacies continue to speak for us. That is why we receive such overwhelming support anytime we come here, especially in Osogbo,” he added.
Aregbesola’s comments come as political parties intensify preparations for the next electoral cycle, with the ADC positioning itself as the leading challenger to the ruling government.
