Former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has dismissed reports claiming that the Court of Appeal upheld his suspension from the party.
Several online platforms had reported that the appellate court affirmed the suspension of Anyanwu alongside the PDP National Organising Secretary, Umaru Bature; the party’s National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade; and the Deputy National Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha.
However, speaking with journalists after the Court of Appeal delivered its ruling on matters relating to the party’s Ibadan convention, Anyanwu described the reports as false and misleading.
According to him, the issue of suspension was never part of the case before the court.
“There was nothing like suspension. It was not before the court,” Anyanwu said.
He also disclosed that the party is preparing for its national convention, which he said is scheduled to hold between March 29 and March 30.
Meanwhile, a faction of the party led by Tanimu Turaki has indicated its intention to approach the Supreme Court to challenge the Appeal Court’s ruling on the matter.
