Youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have told Governor Seyi Makinde to begin drafting his handover note, insisting that the people of the state are eager for a new political direction ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking at a press conference held at the APC Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, the State APC Youth Leader, Comrade John Aremu, said young members of the party are intensifying mobilisation efforts to reclaim the state from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Aremu accused the current administration of keeping Oyo State “in bondage,” adding that APC youths are determined to deliver the political change they believe the state urgently needs.
He maintained that the ruling party should brace for its “inevitable exit,” stressing that progressive young leaders within the APC are prepared to take charge.
Addressing the party’s internal dynamics, Aremu pointed to the recent reconciliation between Senator Teslim Folarin and Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, describing it as a major step towards strengthening party unity and boosting the APC’s chances in 2027.
Aremu revealed that the forthcoming APC Youth Summit will prioritise restructuring party units, mobilising grassroots supporters, and rallying young members behind a unified progressive agenda.
According to him, the summit will also unveil a youth-focused strategic roadmap featuring digital advocacy, political mobilisation, community development initiatives, and issue-based campaigns aimed at reclaiming the state.
“The future of Oyo must be planned today,” he said, adding that the youth wing is fully prepared to champion the transformation required to accelerate the state’s development.
