Former National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sunday Udeh-Okoye, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will record a landslide victory in Enugu State during the 2027 general elections.
Udeh-Okoye made the bold prediction following a wave of defections from the PDP to the ruling APC, including his own recent move to the party.
“In the next election, it will be a landslide for the APC in Enugu,” he asserted confidently.
When asked whether the APC could triumph in Enugu if Labour Party’s Peter Obi contests again, Udeh-Okoye insisted that the APC would win “no matter who is on the ballot.”
He explained that the APC has now absorbed the core political structure that once powered PDP victories in the state.
“Those who won elections for the party at that time, we were not in APC; now all of us are in APC. Anybody you like in any political party, I assure you, in Enugu State, APC will win,” he said.
The former PDP chieftain dismissed suggestions that the Southeast would reject the APC, stressing that Governor Peter Mbah’s achievements have strengthened the party’s image in the state.
According to him, the region’s past distrust of APC stemmed from former President Muhammadu Buhari’s attitude towards Ndigbo, a perception he said no longer applies.
With Governor Mbah’s defection, three out of the five states in the Southeast are now under APC control — a development Udeh-Okoye believes will reshape the region’s political direction ahead of 2027.
