APC Solidifies Dominance in Kaduna as 4 Lawmakers and 5 Reps Defect in Mega Rally

Governor Uba Sani has expressed his delight as the All Progressives Congress (APC) continues to surge in strength with the defection of four Kaduna State House of Assembly lawmakers and five House of Representatives members, alongside thousands of their supporters. The political shift was celebrated at a massive rally held on Saturday at Murtala Square, Kaduna.

The defections mark a significant shift in Kaduna’s political landscape, with APC now boasting 13 representatives in the House, a commanding 10-seat lead over the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which holds only three. Similarly, the APC now has 26 members in the State Assembly compared to the PDP’s mere eight.

The rally attracted high-profile figures, including APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Minister of Environment, Alhaji Balarabe Abbas Lawal, and Chairman of the North West Development Commission, Alhaji Lawal Samaila Yakawada, along with a sea of APC supporters.

Governor Uba Sani, addressing the crowd, emphasized APC’s unity, stressing that the party welcomes all members equally, regardless of when they joined. He highlighted the party’s focus on grassroots outreach and inclusivity as key to their success. “What is most important is your ability to reach out to the grassroots, to carry everyone along,” he stated.

Reflecting on the party’s rise, the Governor noted that APC’s representation in the House of Representatives had grown from just four in 2023 to 14. He confidently predicted that the APC will secure 95 percent of the votes in Kaduna in the upcoming 2027 elections.

Governor Sani attributed the APC’s success to his administration’s commitment to justice, fairness, and inclusivity. “Kaduna is Nigeria’s most diverse state. Our strength lies in our diversity,” he said, citing the state’s unparalleled peace despite its ethnic and religious diversity.

Professor Nentawe, in his remarks, described APC as “the promised land” for Nigerian politicians, praising the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for their achievements. House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas declared the APC as the undisputed political force in Kaduna State, stating, “Whether in Zone 1, Zone 2, or Zone 3, APC is the party to beat.”

Hon. Husseini Jalo, speaking on behalf of the defectors, thanked Governor Sani and President Tinubu for their leadership, declaring Kaduna a “one-party state” under the APC.

Other notable defectors included ex-Senators Danjuma Lah, Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi, Shehu Sani, former Governor Muktar Ramalan Yero, and Hon. Saidu Adamu, the PDP State Secretary.

With these high-profile defections, the APC continues to cement its dominance in Kaduna, leaving the PDP with a significantly reduced presence in both the state and federal legislature.
