APC Slams PDP Crisis, Says Makinde Nears ‘One-Man Governors’ Forum’ Leadership

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the deepening crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claiming that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is on the verge of leading what it described as a “one-man PDP Governors’ Forum.”

In a statement issued on Saturday, APC Lagos spokesman Seye Oladejo said the opposition party is experiencing its “final throes of relevance,” citing ongoing defections of PDP governors and key stakeholders to the ruling party.

Oladejo argued that the wave of defections has significantly weakened the PDP’s structure and credibility, leaving it with diminished influence. He described the situation as a reflection of internal disarray, lack of ideological direction, and unresolved leadership crises within the party.

According to him, the PDP Governors’ Forum, once a strong collective leadership platform, has been reduced to what he termed a “lonely outpost of dwindling influence,” with Makinde emerging as its central figure.

The APC further maintained that the crisis within the PDP poses broader concerns for Nigeria’s democracy, warning that the weakening of opposition politics could undermine political balance and accountability.

Oladejo urged opposition parties to adopt what he described as the APC’s proven approach during its years in opposition, emphasizing discipline, strategic planning, and unity of purpose.

He added that while opposition parties grapple with internal challenges, the APC remains focused on governance, institutional strengthening, and delivering results for Nigerians.
