APC Says Makinde, Not Tinubu, Should Be Blamed for PDP’s Woes

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Nigerians to stop linking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the internal crises rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, should be held responsible for the party’s misfortunes.

The ruling party issued the warning in a statement released on Wednesday and made available to DAILY POST.

This follows growing reactions from some Nigerians who suggest that the challenges facing the PDP are politically engineered by President Tinubu. But the APC, through its Oyo State Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Olawale Sadare, said such claims are misguided.

Sadare stated that Governor Makinde and other PDP leaders created the conditions that led to the party’s current troubles.

According to him, Makinde “ruined the PDP” by allegedly lacking the competence and leadership qualities needed to steer a national party.

“Rather than look inward for solutions, supposed elders and leaders within the PDP left everything to chance and paved the way for the likes of Gov. Makinde to take over the affairs of their party,” the statement read.

He added that Makinde has become “the final nemesis” of the PDP, noting that he is now the only governor from the party in the entire southern region, with just a few left in the North.

Sadare further claimed that Makinde cannot revive the party from its “comatose condition” and questioned why many PDP governors have abandoned the party.

He also urged critics to allow President Tinubu focus on governance instead of dragging him into the PDP’s internal struggles.
