APC Power Broker Dumps Party for ADC in Jigawa, Sparks Political Ripples in Ringim

0

The immediate past Chairman of Ringim Local Government Area in Jigawa State, Hon. Shehu Sule Udi, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing concerns over the party’s current direction.

Udi, a close ally of former Jigawa State Governor and ex-Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, announced his resignation from the APC in a statement made available to journalists. He attributed his decision to what he described as a departure from the party’s founding ideals at the local, state, and national levels.

Declaring his new political affiliation, Udi said:
“I, Hon. Shehu Sule Udi, hereby formally and publicly declare that I have officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC). I make this declaration with full conviction and commitment to the party’s vision and principles.”

He further pledged his loyalty and active involvement in advancing the ADC’s agenda, particularly in promoting democratic development and good governance.

Udi’s defection has generated reactions within Ringim Local Government, where he is widely regarded as a strong grassroots mobiliser. Political observers believe his move could significantly strengthen the ADC’s presence in the area, given his established political structure and influence at the community level.

They also noted that his defection may trigger a wave of similar moves by his supporters, potentially expanding the ADC’s reach beyond Ringim.

However, members of the APC have downplayed the impact of his exit, maintaining that the party remains formidable and will continue to dominate the local political landscape.
