APC Planting Political ‘Land Mines’ in Opposition Parties — Ex-Senator Marafa Alleges

Former Zamfara Central Senator, Kabiru Marafa, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government of deliberately destabilizing opposition parties by planting “political land mines” within their ranks.

Marafa, who recently resigned from the APC after serving as the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Coordinator in Zamfara during the 2023 elections, made the allegation on Monday while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

According to him, the ruling party is setting traps in opposition groups to frustrate credible politicians who might challenge its dominance.

“Which party am I going to now? Already the APC is planting land mines everywhere in the political parties, waiting for well-meaning people — those who want to defend their people and advance their cause — to come in, and then they will engage them in unnecessary fights in the parties,” Marafa said.

The former lawmaker explained that his next political move remains undecided, stressing that he intends to carefully study the landscape before choosing where to pitch his tent.

“So that is why we said we are not in a hurry, there is still time. We are going to study the political parties and the members that are in them before we take a final decision,” he added.

Marafa’s defection from the APC adds to the growing wave of discontent among some former allies of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
