APC in Sokoto Accuses Tambuwal of Neglect, Welcomes PDP Defectors at Stakeholders’ Meeting

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State has accused former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of failing to deliver meaningful development to his home community during his time in office.

The allegation was made at an APC stakeholders’ meeting held in Tambuwal, where the party’s local government chairman, Isa Sadiq Achida, said the former governor neglected the area despite occupying key public offices.

Achida also criticised Tambuwal’s reported involvement in a political coalition, describing it as a regrouping of familiar political actors rather than a genuine new movement. He urged residents, particularly young people, to support political continuity and avoid aligning with what he termed recycled political interests.

At the meeting, the APC formally received several defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including three former councillors, marking a boost for the party at the grassroots level.

Speaking on behalf of the Tambuwal Local Government Chairman, the Council Leader, Nasiru Jabo, reaffirmed the council’s commitment to strengthening the APC and improving its electoral performance in future polls.

Also addressing stakeholders, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Ala, disclosed that the Sokoto State Government had approved the establishment of three new secondary schools in Tambuwal Local Government Area.

In his remarks, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Aminu Dikko, said several indigenes of Tambuwal had been appointed into political offices under the current administration, countering claims of marginalisation. He also dismissed speculation about personal political ambitions, stating that he would abide by the decisions of the party.

Efforts to reach former Governor Tambuwal for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report. However, the PDP, through its spokesperson Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, said the party would respond to the allegations at an appropriate time.
