The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, for his decisive role in the rescue of students abducted from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State.
In a statement released on Wednesday, APC spokesperson Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau commended the minister’s coordination of the operation, describing it as a clear demonstration of his commitment to national security and public service.
He noted that Matawalle’s swift intervention aligned with his track record of confronting security challenges since assuming office.
The party highlighted that all abducted students were safely recovered within a week after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the minister to relocate to Kebbi and oversee the operation, calling the outcome a strong indication of an effective and coordinated security response.
“We extend our appreciation to all the security agencies and their personnel who carried out the rescue professionally. We urge them to sustain the momentum until the entire country is safe,” the statement read.
The APC further pointed out that Matawalle’s security approach—first demonstrated during his tenure as governor of Zamfara State—has once again yielded results in the successful rescue effort.
The party also thanked President Tinubu for prioritising citizens’ safety and congratulated Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi State, as well as the parents of the rescued students, on the safe return of their children.
