A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Taofiq Raimi, says Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has openly acknowledged the severity of the political turmoil in the state, which led to the declaration of a six-month state of emergency.
Raimi made the remark on Friday during an interview on Prime Time, a programme aired on Arise Television.
“This has put to rest the controversy as to whether there was any crisis at all,” Raimi said.
According to him, Governor Fubara identified three key actors in the conflict — his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, whom he still described as “our leader”; the Rivers State House of Assembly; and himself.
“The governor even admitted that he is the crisis himself,” Raimi noted.
He further explained that Fubara praised President Bola Tinubu for playing a fatherly role in brokering peace and stabilizing the situation in the state.
“The third element in his speech is the fact that he said that peace has returned, and they will now focus on the continuation of democratic rule and the development of Rivers State,” Raimi added.
