ABUJA — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, the party’s National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, said the National Working Committee (NWC) has thrown its full weight behind Tinubu’s re-election bid, a move he noted has also been echoed across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
“It will be the wish of the party, and we, the NWC of the party, have already endorsed President Tinubu as the next presidential candidate of the party,” Argungu said.
However, he clarified that the endorsement does not bar other aspirants within the APC from contesting.
“But it does not mean that the door is closed,” he explained. “When the time comes, we will release our timetable, and anybody who wishes to aspire for the presidency on the platform of the APC will not be denied the opportunity to purchase the nomination forms.”
The endorsement sets the stage for what could be a defining political battle in 2027, as opposition forces continue to explore coalition options against the ruling party.
