The Director-General of the Protocol Directorate at the Kano State Government House, Abdullahi Rogo, has claimed that there is growing consensus among stakeholders in the state for the defection of former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and incumbent Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Rogo made the assertion in a viral video released on Sunday by Arewa Update, where he alleged that citizens of Kano State and registered voters had agreed on the political move.
According to him, the proposed defection followed a meeting involving the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and other key figures within the Kwankwasiyya political movement.
“After our meeting with the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and other members of Kwankwasiyya, we agreed that Kwankwaso and Kano State Governor Abba K. Yusuf should join the APC,” Rogo said.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Kwankwaso nor Governor Yusuf has publicly confirmed or denied the claim, while the NNPP and APC leaderships are yet to issue official statements on the matter.
