The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Convention Central Coordination Committee, Aminu Bello Masari, has dismissed complaints by some party members over alleged denial of nomination forms, describing them as deliberate attempts to destabilize the ruling party ahead of its national convention.
Masari made this known on Thursday in Abuja during the APC World Media Briefing, held in preparation for the party’s 8th National Convention scheduled for Friday, March 27 through Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Addressing concerns raised by aggrieved aspirants, Masari insisted that the party strictly adhered to its zoning arrangement, which guides the distribution of party offices across regions in line with Nigeria’s federal character principle.
According to him, nomination forms were only sold to aspirants contesting positions allocated to their respective zones, stressing that attempts by individuals to obtain forms outside their designated zones raised suspicion.
“APC is a responsible Nigerian party. In line with federal character, all offices are zoned,” Masari stated. “If a position is zoned to a particular region and someone from another zone insists on contesting, it suggests an intention to create confusion within the party.”
He further alleged that such actions could be orchestrated by individuals acting as agents to disrupt the party’s internal processes, adding that the APC would not tolerate any moves aimed at undermining its stability.
Masari also noted that the party had not received any formal legal challenge regarding the issue. “We are not aware that anybody has gone to court. We have not been served. If we are, we will respond accordingly,” he said.
The briefing was attended by key government and party officials, including the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo; Vice Chairman of the Central Committee, Pius Akinyelure; Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare; and Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, among other party leaders.
The APC’s 8th National Convention is expected to shape the party’s leadership structure ahead of future political contests, amid heightened political activity across the country.
