Khamis Musa Darazo, a staunch supporter of President Bola Tinubu and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged the Presidency and the party’s national leadership to act swiftly to prevent the defection of key members, including former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.
Darazo described reports of Pantami’s possible exit as a major political setback that could weaken the APC’s strength in the North and across Nigeria.
“Professor Pantami is not just a politician; he is an intellectual, reformer, and bridge-builder who has used knowledge, faith, and integrity to promote good governance and inspire young Nigerians,” Darazo said.
He cautioned that several influential party figures were also weighing their options, warning that the APC could face internal cracks if proactive steps are not taken to maintain unity and trust within its ranks.
Darazo lauded Pantami’s record as a minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari, highlighting his role in driving innovation, digital inclusion, job creation, and entrepreneurship through reforms in the communications and digital economy sector.
He added that losing Pantami would dent the APC’s intellectual and moral image while discouraging many young Nigerians who view him as a model of integrity and visionary leadership.
“The APC’s strength lies in unity, inclusion, and visionary leadership,” Darazo emphasized. “Every loyal member matters — especially someone like Professor Pantami, whose influence transcends party lines.”
