RIVERS — A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has called on Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to immediately sack all appointees installed by the Sole Administrator during his six-month suspension.
Governor Fubara returned to the Rivers State Government House on Friday, a day after Sole Administrator Ibok-Ette Ibas vacated office. His suspension, declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had attracted widespread condemnation but lasted the full six months.
Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), said it would be “dangerous” for the governor to retain appointees of what he described as an “illegal Sole Administration.”
“I expect the Governor to sack all the appointees of the illegal Sole Administrators and ensure that nobody imposes anybody on him as his Commissioner or aide, even as Nyesom Wike has promised not to engage in such a devilish act,” he stated.
For peace to return to the state, Eze also urged that all members of the State Assembly who either resigned or worked with Governor Fubara during the crisis be reabsorbed.
He further called on President Tinubu to guarantee Fubara’s protection and shield him from what he described as “funny impeachment plots” by the State Assembly.
“The Governor must be assured that he is not set up for further embarrassment. Failure to do this, he should invoke his full powers as the Executive Governor of the State,” Eze warned.
