The All Progressives Congress (APC) has affirmed Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji as its candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

Oyebamiji’s emergence was confirmed at the party’s governorship primary held on Saturday in Osogbo, where he was unanimously adopted as the consensus candidate.

Announcing the decision, former governorship aspirant Kunle Rasheed Adegoke said the affirmation followed the directive of the APC National Working Committee. He disclosed that all other aspirants willingly stepped down in support of Oyebamiji to ensure party unity.

“I, Kunle Adegoke, with the consent of all other aspirants, move the motion that Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji be adopted as the consensus candidate to contest the 2026 governorship election,” Adegoke said.

The motion was seconded by Senator Babajide Omoworare, sealing Oyebamiji’s adoption as the party’s flagbearer.

Chairman of the Osun APC Governorship Primary Election Committee and Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, subsequently announced Oyebamiji as the duly nominated governorship candidate of the party.

The development marks a major step for the APC as it begins preparations to reclaim power in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
