Anyone Outside APC Is a Minority,” Says Party Chairman as Plateau Governor Defects

Jos, Plateau State — The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that Nigerians who are not members of the ruling party now constitute a political minority.

Yilwatda made the statement on Tuesday in Jos during the official defection of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to the APC.

According to the APC chairman, the party now dominates political structures across Plateau State, from the ward level upward.

“Every other person who is not in APC is a minority. From all the wards in Plateau, everybody is in APC,” Yilwatda said.

He used the occasion to call on remaining members of opposition parties to join the APC, describing other political platforms as weakened and unstable.

“I want to invite the remaining minorities who are left in other political parties. I appeal to you for your own good. This is the last opportunity,” he said.

Yilwatda added that the APC’s online membership registration portal remains open, urging opposition members to take advantage of it.

“We are throwing a lifeline. Come to our party and rescue yourselves because other political parties are drowning,” he stated.

Governor Mutfwang’s defection is seen as a significant political shift in Plateau State and adds to a growing wave of defections strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
