Alleged Fake PFIPC DG Adeniyi Adeyemi Arrested in Osun Following Court-Ordered Bench Warrant

Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), has been arrested by security operatives after the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

Adeyemi was apprehended on Tuesday at a hideout in Osun State by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force’s Force Intelligence Department/Intelligence Response Team (FID/IRT), following an order by Justice Mohammed Umar. A police spokesperson confirmed the arrest.

Sources familiar with the development said the suspect is expected to be transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation and prosecution.

The arrest followed Adeyemi’s repeated failure to appear before the court for his arraignment. During Tuesday’s proceedings, his counsel, Genesis Francis, informed the court that he had been unable to persuade his client to attend the hearing.

According to the defence lawyer, Adeyemi had expressed concerns about his safety in an open letter addressed to President Bola Tinubu, arguing that the case had attracted widespread public attention.

However, prosecuting counsel, Wisdom Madaki, opposed the explanation, telling the court that the defendant’s continued absence had stalled the proceedings. He subsequently urged the court to issue a bench warrant pursuant to Section 394 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA).

In his ruling, Justice Umar noted that the charges against Adeyemi were filed on November 27, 2025, and that the case first came up on December 4, 2025. The judge observed that the defendant had appeared in court only once before failing to attend subsequent hearings.

Justice Umar consequently ordered Adeyemi’s arrest and adjourned the case until September 30 for further proceedings.
