Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has taken a swipe at former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, questioning his capacity to govern Nigeria.
Speaking with journalists on Friday in Abuja, Akume argued that Obi failed to deliver as governor of Anambra State and therefore lacked the credentials to “rescue” the country.
“Which Nigeria is he talking about rescuing? If Peter Obi could not rescue Anambra, how can he rescue 36 states and the FCT?” Akume asked.
The SGF also praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership style, describing him as a unifier despite religious differences.
“President Tinubu is a Muslim, yet he is at peace with Christians, Muslims and traditionalists. Nigeria is a huge country on the move, and under his direction, we are confident of reaching the promised land,” he said.
Akume added that the current administration inherited a weak economy but had already recorded progress, noting that the nation’s GDP has grown by 4.4 percent.
