The Accord Party has signalled its readiness to welcome Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, into its ranks as he prepares for the 2026 off-cycle governorship election.
This comes after Adeleke reportedly resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amid prolonged internal disputes, prompting speculations that he may seek a more stable political platform for his re-election push.
Speaking on Wednesday in Lagos, the party’s Lagos State Chairman, Dele Oladeji, said Accord would gladly receive the governor if he chooses to make the switch.
“We are waiting for his declaration. That is what we can say for now. Whenever he decides to step in, we are set to receive him,” Oladeji said.
He described Accord as a cohesive and well-structured platform, free from internal crises and godfather interference — factors he believes should appeal to any politician seeking a reliable base.
“Accord is a very stable and sanitised political platform. We have no factions and no godfathers. Any candidate who joins us between now and 2027 is guaranteed a peaceful and dependable structure,” he added.
Oladeji insisted that the party remains the most viable option for Adeleke should he formally decide to defect.
“If he chooses to join us, we will be ready to work with him and ensure his success,” he said.
