Popular Afrobeats singer Afeez Adeshina, widely known by his stage name Destiny Boy, has died at the age of 22.
The young artiste reportedly passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2025, with confirmation coming after a video showing his lifeless body surfaced on social media, sparking widespread reactions from fans and colleagues.
As of the time of filing this report, Destiny Boy’s remains are being transported to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he is expected to be laid to rest.
Destiny Boy rose to national prominence in 2019 after his Fuji-style cover of “If,” a hit song by Afrobeats superstar Davido, went viral and earned him recognition within Nigeria’s music scene.
In a tragic twist of fate, the singer had only recently embraced fatherhood, having announced the birth of his first child in November 2024 via his Instagram page.
His sudden death has cast a dark cloud over the Nigerian entertainment industry, with many fans mourning the loss of a young talent whose career showed great promise.
