OSOGBO — Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has called on residents to embrace unity and reject all forms of division as the state celebrated its 34th anniversary on Wednesday.
In a goodwill message to mark the occasion, Adeleke praised the courage and vision of the state’s founding fathers, noting that their sacrifices laid the foundation for the progress Osun has recorded over the years.
“On this day in 1991, our founding fathers and mothers, through courage, vision, and unwavering determination, achieved an age-long dream and aspiration of having a state we can call our own,” Adeleke said.
He added that the last 34 years have witnessed remarkable achievements, with Osun producing talents who have excelled in education, culture, sports, innovation, and enterprise.
“Today, we remember and honour those who championed the creation of Osun State. Their sacrifices remain the foundation upon which we stand today. Since our creation, we have faced both triumphs and challenges. Our state has grown in leaps and bounds. We have every reason to be proud of our achievements,” he noted.
The governor urged citizens to prioritize unity and shared values above personal or sectional interests.
“Let us reject division, embrace unity, uphold values, and always place Osun first. Together, we can overcome our challenges and make Osun a model of excellence and progress,” Adeleke said.
