Adeleke Debunks Defection Rumour, Says He’s PDP ‘Body and Soul’

OSOGBO — Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed reports suggesting that he is planning to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor described the speculation as baseless and the handiwork of political opponents afraid of his growing popularity.

“Our attention has been drawn to a report that Governor Ademola Adeleke is planning to join the African Democratic Congress, ADC. The report is not only untrue but a calculated attempt by those afraid of the Governor’s soaring acceptability to create confusion and uncertainty in the minds of the people of Osun State,” the statement read.

Adeleke reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, stressing that he has no intention of defecting to any other political platform. He also restated his commitment to seeking re-election in 2026 under the PDP.

“We want to reiterate for the umpteenth time that Governor Adeleke remains committed to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and has no plan whatsoever to join the ADC or any party for that matter,” Rasheed added.

The governor urged members of the public to disregard the rumours, insisting that the PDP in Osun has already begun mobilising to ensure his second-term victory.
