ADC Slams Dino Melaye, Labels Him an Impostor in Kogi Politics

The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a stern warning to Senator Dino Melaye, cautioning him to stop identifying as a member of the party.

In a statement released in Lokoja on Friday, the party’s Public Relations Officer, Tayo John, declared that Melaye has no ties with the ADC, accusing him of meddling in the party’s affairs and launching baseless attacks.

John maintained that the party’s structure in Kogi remains independent and has no coalition with “marauders” claiming membership without legitimacy.

“Dino Melaye is not a member of ADC in Kogi State. He is not known in his ward, has no party identity with us, and cannot speak for the ADC,” John said.

He further described Melaye’s actions as typical of a “social media content creator” whose public theatrics amount to nothing more than noise.

“Dino is an impostor. His activities are inconsistent with the values and processes of the African Democratic Congress. He has not paid membership dues or participated in activities at the ward, local government, or state level. By our constitution, he is not recognised as a member and cannot represent us,” John added.

He reaffirmed Hon. Leke Abejide as the authentic national leader of the ADC, noting that Abejide has remained a committed and financial member of the party since 2018 and has consistently won elections on its platform.

The party urged INEC, the Inspector General of Police, and the public to disregard Melaye’s claims, alleging that his aim is to destabilise the ADC “the same way he has done with his former political platforms.”

They insisted that all actions taken by Melaye and a factional coalition against Abejide—including calls for his seat to be declared vacant—hold no legitimacy.

“With ongoing court cases instituted by Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide and the Benue State Chairman of the ADC, the rightful leadership of the party will soon be settled,” John said.

He emphasised that Abejide remains both a state and national stakeholder whom Melaye and his camp “met in the party,” stressing that their moves to suspend or expel him were unconstitutional.

The party concluded by warning Melaye to immediately stop “impersonating the ADC” and refrain from making statements on behalf of the party.
