ADC Faction Blasts Atiku Over ‘Illegitimate’ Adamawa Meeting

Atiku commences tours of flood impacted states Tuesday

The faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Nafiu Bala Gombe has come down hard on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing his recent meeting with some supposed ADC stakeholders in Adamawa State as “illegitimate” and “politically motivated.”

In a statement signed by Dr. Christopher Okechukwu, the faction’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, the ADC accused Atiku of orchestrating a “sham gathering” aimed at creating a false sense of support and legitimacy.

“The National Leadership of the ADC brings to the fore a pressing concern that warrants scrutiny. The recent meeting between Atiku and the purported Adamawa ADC stakeholders reeks of illegitimacy and raises several questions,” the statement read.

According to the party, the meeting neither had the backing of ADC’s national leadership nor reflected the genuine interests of its Adamawa State structure.

Okechukwu further alleged that most of those who attended the meeting were “former members of the APC and PDP who left their parties due to perceived irrelevance,” insisting that their sudden appearance under the ADC banner was a publicity stunt.

“This meeting was nothing short of a desperate attempt to create the illusion of support and legitimacy,” he said. “Its purpose and outcomes remain unclear, and we question what tangible benefits, if any, will come from it.”

The ADC faction urged Nigerians and political observers to critically examine such political maneuvers and demand transparency and due process in future alliances and coalitions.

“The meeting between Atiku and the so-called Adamawa ADC stakeholders lacks authenticity and legitimacy,” Okechukwu added. “We call on the public to scrutinise this development and insist on accountability from those seeking to associate with our party.”
