ADC Disagrees with Trump, Says No Evidence of Christian Genocide in Nigeria

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claims of an ongoing Christian genocide in Nigeria, insisting that there is no verified evidence to support such allegations.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the clarification on Tuesday while appearing on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme monitored by DAILY POST.

Abdullahi’s statement followed recent remarks by former United States President Donald Trump, who designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” alleging that Christians were being systematically killed across the country.

Trump had reportedly claimed that he directed the U.S. Defence Department to prepare for potential military intervention should the Nigerian government “continue to allow the killing of Christians.”

Reacting to the claim, the ADC spokesman said that while the security situation in Nigeria remains a serious concern, there is no credible basis to describe it as genocide.

“I cannot say there is evidence of genocide, and from what we have seen, we cannot describe what is going on as genocide,” Abdullahi said. “The question is not about how the Americans are framing it. The question is that people are being killed in Nigeria, and we have the opportunity to let the Americans know that there’s no genocide going on in Nigeria.”

Abdullahi further emphasized the need for international observers to rely on verified facts rather than politically influenced narratives, stressing that the focus should be on addressing insecurity and protecting all citizens regardless of religion or ethnicity.
